The Oxford dictionary describes yoga as 'A Hindu spiritual and ascetic discipline, a part of which, including breath control, simple meditation, and the adoption of specific bodily postures, is widely practised for health and relaxation'. It's a way of life,  deeper awareness, a form of movement that connects the mind with the body and reconnects you to you inner self.  in a nutshell then, yoga teaches us how to relax  and restore the own power within our bodies whilst stilling the mind at the same time.

Chillout with Yin yoga & mindfulness meditation evenings

Date: First Wednesday of every month (Excl December)

Times : 17.30-19.00 & 19.15 - 20.45

Venue: St Martins Chruch Hall, West Moors, Dorset

The chilled out evening with Natalie Smit-Ash, founder of Chillout Retreats, will begin with a yin yoga session which involves moving into a few postures and releasing into them for between 3-5 minutes. Yin yoga is a magic way to deepen your awareness of both body and mind. You will be stretching deeply into the facia, ligaments and muscles with the aid of bolsters, pillows, blankets and other props for comfort & support.

We then move into some restorative yoga poses to aid rest and deep relaxation which work on relaxing your parasympathetic nervous system and help to ease and melt any tension from both body and mind. Finally you will be lead into a mindfulness meditation practice which involves yoga nidra ( yogic sleep) and then either a visualisation meditation or other Buddhist meditation practices.

We close the evening with a sleepy tea and calming music

Places are limited to 10 per evening, so you will be held in a safe, small and intimate healing space

Most equipment is provided for you- yoga mat, bolster, blanket, blocks, eye pillows, straps.  You will need to bring a pillow, yoga mat if you prefer to use your own, (slippers are optional but encouraged :-)
