WHAT IS YOGA?
The Oxford dictionary describes yoga as 'A Hindu spiritual and ascetic discipline, a part of which, including breath control, simple meditation, and the adoption of specific bodily postures, is widely practised for health and relaxation'. It's a way of life, deeper awareness, a form of movement that connects the mind with the body and reconnects you to you inner self. in a nutshell then, yoga teaches us how to relax and restore the own power within our bodies whilst stilling the mind at the same time.

During these weekly yoga and yogalates classes, Natalie Smit-Ash will be guiding you through traditional Hatha yoga fused with vinyasa flow which is strong, powerful and rejuvenating and covers many of the well known and popular asanas.
The yogalates sessions will be mainly dynamic with an aim of getting the heart beating faster and the energy rising...then the yoga for backcare are more about strengthening your core, developing better posture and using props such as a chair, resistance bands and yoga balls to achieve our backcare goals.
WHAT IS PILATES?
According to the Oxford dictionary Pilates is 'A system of exercises using special apparatus, designed to improve physical strength, flexibility, and posture, and enhance mental awareness' .Pilates is a physical fitness system developed in the early 20th century by Joseph Pilates. It's focus is on developing core strength, good posture and a healthy spine.

Some classes incorporate Yogalates which is a fusion of yoga & Pilates principles available to help strengthen your core, improve posture and protect your spine. The lessons are suitable for any ability and will raise your heartbeat, reduce backache and strengthen you, whilst designed to aid the healing process.
All classes are term time only unless specified.

What will you need to bring:
A yoga mat, a bottle of water and wear some loose or comfortable clothing such as leggins.
How much is it?
Your first taster class costs £8 as a drop in, from thereon, each class has a maximum capacity so you will need to reserve your place for the duration of the course as numbers are limited. Unfortunately regular drop-ins are not available due to the size and nature of the classes.
The courses range from 5-7 weeks in length and the prices are as follows:
4 weeks - £28
5 weeks - £35
6 weeks - £42
Chillout with Yin yoga & mindfulness meditation evenings
Date: First Wednesday of every month (Excl December)
Time: 18.30-20.00
Venue: St Martins Chruch Hall, West Moors, Dorset
The chilled out evening with Natalie Smit-Ash, founder of Chillout Retreats, will begin with a yin yoga session which involves moving into a few postures and releasing into them for between 3-5 minutes. Yin yoga is a magic way to deepen your awareness of both body and mind. You will be stretching deeply into the facia, ligaments and muscles with the aid of bolsters, pillows, blankets and other props for comfort & support.
We then move into some restorative yoga poses to aid rest and deep relaxation which work on relaxing your parasympathetic nervous system and help to ease and melt any tension from both body and mind. Finally you will be lead into a mindfulness meditation practice which involves yoga nidra ( yogic sleep) and then either a visualisation meditation or other Buddhist meditation practices.
We close the evening with a sleepy tea and calming music
Places are limited to 10 per evening, so you will be held in a safe, small and intimate healing space

Most equipment is provided for you- yoga mat, bolster, blanket, blocks, eye pillows, straps. You will need to bring a pillow, yoga mat if you prefer to use your own, (slippers are optional but encouraged :-)
