Three times today I have stood still for a moment and felt the ground beneath my feet – then feel centred again.
I came to the retreat intending to stretch my desk bound body and give myself a much deserved break after 2 months of too much food, alcohol and stress – I left with so much more than that.
The Friday evening yoga and meditation session set the tone for the whole weekend. Lisa the wonderful, nurturing yoga teacher, read the mood of the group and the calming gentle session left me feeling like I had my feet firmly planted back on the ground.
Being a London city worker when I slot in my exercise either early morning or after work my expectation on myself is that I will work as hard as I can, sweat and push my body to the maximum it can do within the limited time-frame, yet this class with Lisa seemed to do my body so much more justice.
This session combined with the beautiful mediation by Nat, made me feel like I had been on holiday for a month and reconnected with my mind and body. I liked that Lisa, Nat and Lucy joined in on the classes – as it felt like we were all having the same experiences together.
I left the weekend feeling very nurtured by everyone and best of all feeling nurtured by myself. I have come back to busy London with a firm knowledge of how to combat the stresses that are mostly bought on by myself – and most importantly with the knowledge that I need to be nice to myself – feed myself with healthy food and healthy thoughts. I feel wonderful and very grounded.
